What are your plans for the pup? (Companion, farm chores, competitive events etc...)
What duties are expected of the pup? (Herding work? Guardian duties? Hunting or pest eradication?)
Do you need a dog with a lot of drive and energy?
Are you looking for a laid back mellow dog?
How much social interaction will the pup experience? (Will you attend many public events with your dog, have a lot of visitors in the home etc)
Do you work outside the home?
How much time will the pup be by him/her self?
Where will the pup spend the majority of its time? (inside, outside - yard, pen etc)
Do you want a dog that is sociable and affectionate with anyone it meets or do you prefer a dog that shows more aloofness to strangers?
You'll want a dog that would adapt and fit in with your style of living. Think about the tone of your home. Is it calm and quiet? Active and noisy?
Do you appreciate an independent personality or more of a “Shadow/Velcro dog" (one that likes to be with you all the time)?
Do you have a preference in terms of sex and/or color?
Do you plan to spay/neuter this pup or are you considering breeding in the future?
Do you like a challenge or do you like a dog that responds easily to your commands? (A dominant pup may be more of a challenge than one that is in the middle to low end of the pack order.)
How consistent a dog trainer are you?
Would you be attending classes with your pup?
Are there children in the home, or frequent child visitors? If so what ages?
What do the other people in the home think of getting an English Shepherd pup?
Do you have other dogs, pets or livestock? Please describe briefly.
Please provide the name, address and phone number for your veterinarian.
Thank you for taking the time to help us determine the best pup from our litter for your situation.
There are no "right" or "wrong" answers. The more detail you can give, the better. Feel free to include additional information you think would be helpful.
