English Shepherd - Farm collie

No Puppies in the works for now......

We're on the lookout for a mate for our "Diva" (2010 Boston/Nanny daughter)

Following is info posted on our last Boston & Maggie litter born February 21, 2011 - 11 Pups:

7 weeks 4/10/11

Our Testor came to do the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test 4/10. It was interesting to see most of the male pups were insecure in a new room with a stranger. The females were not as reserved. They all warmed up and responded well for the rest of the testing and were interactive and playful with her in the yard with the kids & littermates afterward.

None of the pups showed any resistance to dominance testing and all reacted positively to the petting and expressed a positive social reaction....no flailing and certainly no biting or growling tendancies!

The biggest surprize was one females obsession with a toy! I took a rocoon tail out & held it up...funny one pup sniffed & left...others sniffed very curiosly and one grabbed a bite!

Each pups test comments are posted on their individual pages with new photos. We'll be suggesting choices this week with selections made beginning Friday. 8 weeks old on next Monday!!!

4 weeks old!

My camera wouldn't focus right & the color & focus was off but I posted the pics anyway and took more on the 22nd. Their personalities are really starting to emerge...swatting feet, pouncing & barking at each other chewing on ears & tails.

All are fat,  shiny, and very active........she's doing a great job of feeding the whole mob.

We give Maggie 2 fresh eggs, 1 Melaleuca ProCare Nutritional Supplement tab, 2 scoops of Costco's Puppy food along with free choice dry "Atta Boy" & tons of fresh water daily.

We bring the pups into the living room rug (sheet covered) to handle & play with them.  This gives us social interaction time, and a chance to observe each one. It also gives them new surroundings to expand their world. They are starting to explore more & are leaving the sheet.

The pups were 3 weeks old Monday 3/14. They are up on their legs & walking now, starting to growl and play together. I hear an occasional bark too. I put their collars on them on Sunday only one scratched at it at it al little, they just took them in stride.Their teeth are really starting to emerge! They are all crawling out of the swimming pool bed now to follow Maggie....I find she let's them all get out of the pool & then she gets in it to get away from them (they can't get back in yet!!)

By 2 weeks their eyes & ears are opening, they're starting to stick noses up in response when I talk to them.

Eleven Fat & shiny coated little blind helpless wigglies! Six females, 5 males. Sable & whites, Dark Sable & whites & 3 Tricolors (black/white & tan).

This is Boston X Maggie's second litter...12 the 1st time....

Pictures day before whelping

Boston is an all around kind of dog….a jack of all trades guy! Family pet/companion/guardian/friend!

Head chore assistant…..from gathering eggs and retrieving the chickens the kids invariably let out to moving the horned Dexter cattle with me. A natural herding dog that will find a way to get “not so co-operative” new mother cows to move with their calves for me.

Predator control chief….. keeps the coyotes at bay day and night, let’s the Redtail Hawks overhead know they’re not welcome to the Silkies & ducks, catches more mice than a lifetime of cats have, convinced the skunks to move out and since we’ve had no more problems with Bobcats and Owls with the chickens credit goes there too.

Deer Control….. we no longer have deer sleeping in our yard and eating our fruit trees! They can walk about 10’ outside the fence line on their way through and aren’t chased, but know the boundary the ES has set.

Wild Turkey alert…. The new flock of turkeys that cross our property 2-3 times daily are announced, not chased, and respect the boundary also.

Doesn’t bother the cows, horses & birds unless we are working with them. He plays with the kids, lounges on the porch or on special occasions gets to lay by our feet in the house.

Travels well in our Motor Home and provides a true sense of security to me traveling cross country with the kids and cows.

Intelligence and love are visible through his eyes and actions, this dog cares for us as much as we care for him!
